L.Y. Schermerhorn House

This residence is historically and
architecturally significant as it is one of the oldest surviving structures in
the village. It was designed by the prominent Chicago architect William LeBaron
Jenney, the “Father of the Skyscraper”.

L. Y. Schermerhorn was a partner in
Jenney’s architecture and engineering firm, employed to implement Olmsted’s
General Plan of Riverside.

Garden plants complement the Swiss Gothic
style of the home and include natives and old-fashioned favorites.
