Des Plaines River

Des Plaines River

The river churns ever so slightly
Magnificent, strong, ever so mighty
Conquering, the king of all,
Sticks that block its path will fall
Merciless, yet gentle too
Surface reflects the sky so blue
Wind is roaring, river swirls
River moves, the river curls
In the river, a murky grey
Swim many fish, not there to play
Look! A fisherman tries to catch
A fish on his pole so wet
Ducks are eating people’s bread
Bread that people willingly fed
The river is king of all
Stretching out ever so tall
So powerful that I quiver
That’s why I love the Des Plaines River
