Honesty of design is a hallmark of the Crafstman tradition. Originally a single story, this 1924 Craftsman-style Bungalow was designed with an open floor plan and built-ins to maximize the efficiency of daily life activities. Enamored with the charm of the home, which is replete with woodwork and crown moldings, but faced with increasing demands for space, the current owners decided to add a second story contiguous with the architectural vocabulary of the original structure. In adapting the home to suit their lifestyle, the owners embraced the Craftsman ideal of seeking harmony with nature and the immediate environment. Rainwater harvesting and energy saving features were incorporated into the project and the home is now heated and cooled with a remarkable, state-of-the-art, geothermal system. This home is now very much one with the earth.
