French Normandy – 1936
The seventh house on the walk is a French Normandy style home, built when the neighboring Babson Estate was still intact, for a family of Czech origin who wanted the interior of their home to look and feel like a Czech lodge. The beamed cathedral ceiling and ceiling-height hearth with inglenook convey the atmosphere of a castle. The wooden, spiral staircase enhances the experience, while the rear addition melds this home into its mid-century modern neighbors with its walls of glass providing unobstructed views of the garden and the Babson Estate Service Buildings.
