August 10th – Wild Flower Walk and Talk
Walk and Talk with “The Illinois Botanist” was presented on Saturday, August 10 with a wildflower walk and lecture with prominent naturalist, Chris Brenda.
1:00 PM, Wildflower Walk:
Chris Benda led a walk among the wildflowers on the Des Plaines River and Riverside‘s Arboretum. Chris pointed out native plants in Riverside which can be grown in your own garden. A great event for kids and other wildflower enthusiasts!
3:00 PM, Presentation:
Chris gave a colorful presentation in the Great Room of the Riverside Public Library.

Chris Benda is a botanist and past president of the Illinois Native Plant Society (2015-2016). He was a regional ecologist for the Illinois Natural Areas Inventory Update in southern Illinois from 2008-2012. Chris teaches the Flora of Southern Illinois at Southern Illinois University in the summer and a variety of classes at The Morton Arboretum.
