Ode to Flowers

Ode to Flowers
Oh flowers
Your beauty shines like the sun in the spring;
You remind me of a queen’s crown
With your shiny jeweled petals dancing around the center;
Some petals missing to make your beauty even more unique
When I see you sitting there in the ground I stop to stare,
At the beauty before me that moves with the wind;
I take it all in:
That smell of fresh grass all around you
Surrounding you like a fortification around a castle;
When it rains I watch you taste that sweet sky water
As you hum along to the pitter-patter of that rhythm
Oh flowers
When I feel your petals
I feel soft silk between my fingers
Like a blanket or a light fluffy pillow;
When I take a breath
I get the slightest scent of a spring shower
That same rain shower
That left small drops of water upon your petals
Making them glow in the sunlight;
Oh flowers
Your beauty truly cannot be compared
When I see you start to bloom
I know it’s a sign
That spring is here!
