This year, the Olmsted Society’s Annual Meeting was not be held at the Village Hall auditorium as in the past. With the resurgence of Coronavirus (COVID) cases in recent months, FLOS leadership decided to conduct the annual meeting as an entirely online event.

A recording of the Annual Meeting on Zoom is now posted below.

The meeting portion consists of highlights of 2020 activities and the election of new Officers and Board members. Once the business portion concludes, Village Forester Mike Collins will present A Tree Guy in Shanghai: A Forester in a Foreign Land.

In 2019, Michael Collins was invited to participate in an exchange activity in Shanghai, China. In this illustrated presentation, Michael will review his week-long trip and provide a pictorial journey of his experiences in China. He will share some of his insights into forestry in China and discuss some of his observations from abroad.

Michael Collins has been Riverside’s Village Forester for over 15 years. He received
his B.S. degree in Forestry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his M.S. in Natural Resources from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a certified arborist and municipal specialist with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and trained for Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. Michael is also co-chair for the Tree Stewardship and Planting workgroup as part of the Chicago Region Trees Initiative. Prior to his arrival in Riverside, Michael worked at The Morton Arboretum and Cantigny Gardens.

We hope you enjoyed the meeting!
